Stuck at home staying safe?
Give your face 3-5 days makeup and product free to show you what it really needs. There's no better time to detox your skin and learn more. Below, you’ll see a list of findings with correlating beauty scripts for a tailored care routine. We believe in minimal but effective products that don’t leave you feeling sticky or greasy and are easy to add to your day.
FINDINGS:
Redness, Irritation, Inflamation— either during the day or after washing.
Your cleanser is most likely too aggresive and stripping your skin of its natural barrier. What that means is loss of hydration, broken capillaries, and irritated skin. By using a cleanser that is gentle yet cleans well, you can feel good knowing your pores won’t get clogged while the cells have a chance to regenerate.
Your goal is to add moisture to soothe so a lightweight moisturizer (AM) or serum (PM) can plump your skin and even the tone.
If you experience severe capillary breakage (usually in the cheeks, nose or chin), it may be best to speak with a dermatologist about options as they are not usually able to be treated with topical creams or serums.
Dullness, Dry, itchy, flaky, tight
If you find your skin getting dull, itchy or flaky, you are in need of gentle exfoliation and deep moisture. Dry skin can lead to premature wrinkles and lines, so finding products that soothe, plump and promote cell growth will help with vibrancy and evening out tones. Once in a while you can do a mask or peel to even the skin and brighten. A hydrating cleanser will do wonders.
Oily, breakouts, blemishes
Even if your oily in some areas you can still benefit from hydrating. Contrary to popular belief, being oil prone can often be a sign of over production of natural oils to compensate for stripping or overworking the skin. Your natural barrier can be depleted by being too aggressive with cleansers and in an act of protection, the body produces extra to make up for it. If you experience blemishes, hydrating- as crazy as it sounds- can help heal and neutralize. If you are dealing with blemishes, a gentle exfoliant wash can help smooth the dry or cracked skin around the breakout. Neutralizing the pH of your skin and easing the oil production helps to even the tone and calm it down.
Even toned, balanced and hydrated
Sounds like your routine is most likely spot on already. What a feeling. If you start to notice any of the issues mentioned above, definitely take a few days to detox and evaluate. Sometimes a change in product is necessary as the seasons and your schedule changes. Find some goodies that may be nice additons to your line up, if your in the market for something new.
Some Notes:
There is no need to feel like you have to buy all the items in the scripts. Do what works best for you. There are some recs that are this or that. If you end up getting all items in the script, they are definitely able to be used altogether.
Give it time. This is important. You just detoxed, so your skin is fresh and new and waiting for some love and your jumping in with new digs for it. It may take a minute to get used to things.
