Arrival to studio

Upon arriving to the studio, please wash your hands before touching anything in the space.
Be sure to wear a mask as you walk up to the studio.
It is important to santize all surfaces once before beginning your work. There is a virucide spray and lysol wipes available to do all wiping down. Be sure to get:

  • The door knob and key pad

  • the studio station worktop and chair

  • bathroom door knob, sink elements and toilet flusher

When the client arrives, they will call or text you so you can open the door for them. They will have that info sent to them with a confirmation email a few days prior to the appointment.

This is the detailed info that your client will be getting prior to your appointment together.

Preparing your space for work

It is important to get the workspace you need prepared for sanitary practices during your process. If you are doing both hair and makeup, it is important to keep makeup in bags/not exposed while you are doing hairstyling.
When using bobby pins and brushes, if they touch the client or are exposed for a long period of time, tossing or cleaning them is best.
Make sure the air conditioner is on at a desirable setting and temprature. You’ll want to keep it on the whole time so that there is adequate airflow through the space while you work and when your client is without a mask.

The best way to think of doing your work is to ensure that your client would feel safe thinking deeply about what you are doing/have done. Using sanitizer for both client and yourself throughout the process is a good way to showcase your desire for sanitation. For Makeup, using a metal palette as opposed to your hand is best practice at this time as well.

Services

When your client arrives, you can send them to the studio, have them set down thier items and go wash their hands, while you head to the kitchen and wash your hands as well.
You can perform your regular consultation and ask the necessary questions for prep to do services. If your client touches their phone, hand them some hand sanitizer when they are done.

Hair services

  • will occur first if they are getting both services

  • They are asked to come with CLEAN + DRY hair.

  • A mask must be work during hair services for the client.

  • Wash your hands once more before starting services.

  • Wash your hands after you are finished with hair services as well.

Makeup services

  • will occur second if they are getting both services

  • Ask them about their plans/look etc once more and pull out all needed makeup before removing their mask.

  • Ask about their lip color they plan to wear- hopefully they will have one for touch ups.

  • Applying lashes and all makeup should be done thinking thoroughly about sanitation. We are sanitary artists so I trust we know what to do, but think one step further before you come to the appointment about implementing disposables and having some extra brushes as needed.

After your
appointment

Be sure to spray your makeup with the cinema secrets makeup sanitzer spray. Leave open to dry completely. This is especially great for palletes.
Use whatever you need from the kitchen area and sanitizer area throughout the appointment and after to be as sanitary as possible. I would highly recommend cleaning all items before you leave (like brushes, combs and tools) and packing them clean. If you are tight on time, be sure to bring extra plastic storage bags like ziplocs to put all dirty items in so you can clean them as soon as your home.
If you are questioning if something was used or needs to be cleaned, just clean it to be safe.
Be sure to use the barbicide to dunk all metal/non-porus items in for a minimum of 10 minutes.
After you clean and sanitize all your tools and makeup, put them into your bag and wipe all surfaces down with virucide or lysol wipes. This includes:

  • the studio station worktop

  • the bottle of hand sanitizer

  • the clients chair and the black chair closest to the station

  • doorknobs and any high touch surfaces

  • kitchen- sink, trashcan etc.

  • please swiffer the floors as a last step to your appointment. You can find the swiffer in the closet across from the bathroom.

  • send me (Diana) pics!

Important!

  • all appointments will be 1 on 1 (artist and client)- If your client brings someone to the appointment, politely ask that they wait for them to be done with thier appointment. The client knows they shouldn’t have anyone with them.

  • Wash your hands frequently, and if you feel the need to wipe things down go for it.

  • We have fresh, sealed water bottles available as refreshments.

  • if you touch your phone during the appointment, please sanitize your hands

  • Take photos! We have minimal ways to build our portfolio and I’d love to share your work. Feel free to ask them to stand up and go to a blank white wall or move around the space to make it great photo

  • Make sure you have music on, there is a chance that the client won’t talk as much during makeup services out of politeness to you and being unmasked, so having some background sound is important.

  • Brushes and tools MUST be cleaned and sanitized fully before and after each appointment. Anything cleaned and sanitized should remain unused for 72 hours.

  • Try not to touch too much of your makeup, and whatever you do touch or have out or use, make sure to sanitize after the client leaves.

  • Be sure to walk your client to the door when they are done, they should not touch the door if we can help it. Also, they should not be getting ready at all in our space. They know this, but if you need to remind them its totally fine.

  • If you are feeling ill, have symptoms of COVID-19 or have come into contact with anyone with symptoms or who has been diagnosed within 14 days, do not hesistate to let us know!! All artists can potentially take your appointment since we are working so much less frequently, so do not be afraid to let us know.

  • If you need to cough or sneeze during the appointment, do so into your mask and excuse yourself as necessary from the space. Wash your hands afterward.

  • If you become aware of a COVID-19 diagnosis within 14 days of working, you must let us know.
